What are EV Chargers levels ?

Level 1

A charging unit that comes with BEV and PHEV vehicle at purchase. It plugs into a standard 120V 20A wall outlet. It usually provides close to 4 miles of driving range per hour of charging.

Level 2

A charging station that requires an AC single phase 240V outlet. The station may supply an average of 34 miles of driving range per hour of charging.

Level 3

A DC fast charge (DCFC) unit is the fastest on the market, however, not every plug-in electric vehicle is level 3 capable. DCFC units are only installed at commercial properties. Output DC voltage may range between 250V and 900V and the unit may fully charge a BEV in one hour.
